Head Chef – Heritage Valley Cafe

Heritage Valley Cafe is seeking a Head Chef to lead our kitchen team in delivering high-quality culinary experiences. This is a full-time role suitable for an experienced and skilled professional looking to contribute to a well-regarded hospitality venue.

Position Details

  • Salary Range: $75,000–$90,000 per year (based on experience)
  • Work Hours: 38 hours per week
  • Start Date: As soon as possible

Job Responsibilities

  • Menu Development: Design, cost, and implement innovative, seasonal menus to maintain quality and profitability.
  • Kitchen Management: Supervise kitchen operations, ensuring smooth service and high standards.
  • Food Preparation: Direct involvement in food production, ensuring consistency, quality, and adherence to food safety regulations.
  • Staff Training & Leadership: Train, mentor, and manage kitchen staff to ensure a high-performance team.
  • Inventory & Cost Control: Monitor stock levels, control food costs, and coordinate supplier orders efficiently.
  • Roster Management: Plan and organize staff schedules for efficient kitchen operations.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to food hygiene, health, and safety regulations at all times.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple kitchen operations effectively.
  • Financial acumen for budgeting, cost control, and menu pricing.
  • Creativity and innovation in food presentation and menu design.
  • Passion for high-quality cuisine and customer satisfaction.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a Head Chef or in a similar role within a high-volume kitchen.
  • Education: Certificate IV or higher in Commercial Cookery, Kitchen Management, or Hospitality (preferred).
