About the Role:

Our confidential client—a leading, family‐owned Western Australian specialist in mining services, civil works, and building maintenance—is seeking an experienced Project Engineer. You will play a critical role in closing out an existing project and providing technical and project management support on a new project phase. The role demands a detail‐oriented professional with strong technical expertise and a solid background in engineering project management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Close-Out & Documentation:
  • • Oversee the complete project close-out process by compiling and finalising comprehensive Material Data Reports (MDRs) and revising all engineering drawings and site documentation using CAD/BIM systems.
  • • Ensure that as-built documentation, snag lists, and final certifications are completed accurately and in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., AS/NZS standards).
  • • Liaise with site teams and subcontractors to verify that all aspects of the project have been satisfactorily completed and that all documentation reflects the actual on-site conditions.
  • Quality Control & Assurance:
  • • Develop and implement detailed Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Inspection Test Reports (ITRs) to monitor project quality throughout the lifecycle.
  • • Conduct rigorous quality control audits and on-site inspections, ensuring that construction methods and materials comply with both client specifications and relevant statutory regulations.
  • • Utilize technical software for quality tracking and reporting, and promptly address any deviations or non-conformances with corrective action plans.
  • Project Planning & Coordination:
  • • Create, review, and update detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans using project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • • Coordinate multidisciplinary project activities by interfacing with structural, mechanical, and electrical teams to ensure seamless integration of work packages.
  • • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies, ensuring that potential technical and scheduling issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Technical Oversight & Engineering Support:
  • • Verify that all engineering designs and technical specifications are rigorously adhered to by performing detailed quantity take-offs and cross-checking against design documents.
  • • Provide technical support during the design review process by collaborating with design teams to resolve engineering challenges and validate technical requirements.
  • • Oversee the implementation of engineering solutions on site, ensuring that modifications or revisions are accurately documented and communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Reporting:
  • • Prepare regular progress reports and technical documentation for internal teams and client representatives, ensuring clear communication of project status, risks, and milestones.
  • • Act as the primary technical point of contact between the client, subcontractors, and internal project teams, ensuring that all technical queries and issues are addressed promptly.
  • • Facilitate post-project reviews and “lessons learned” sessions to capture insights for continuous improvement in future projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or related field) with appropriate professional accreditation.
  • Demonstrable experience in project close-out, quality control, project planning, and technical oversight within the construction and infrastructure sectors.
  • Proficiency with CAD/BIM software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple technical tasks in a fast-paced environment.

What’s on Offer:

  • A competitive hourly rate (approximately $65–$75/hr, negotiable based on experience).
  • An opportunity to extend into long-term work if the initial project phase is successful.
  • A dynamic, safety-focused environment that values technical excellence and continuous improvement.

How to Apply:

If you are a qualified engineer ready to tackle a technically challenging role in a fast-paced environment, please submit your updated resume and cover letter through our recruitment portal. Further details will be provided during the interview process.
