• $40/hour (permanent) - overtime paid at penalty rates

About our client
Our client is a market leader within transport, building, services infrastructure, urban and industrial civil projects across Southeast QLD. With a project on the Cunninghams Gap Highway, our client is seeking a Leading Hand with Civil Structural experience to join their team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be required to meet daily at 6:30am the MCE Project Office in Tarome.

About the project
• Repairs to a two-kilometre section of the Cunningham Highway at Cunninghams Gap, which was extensively damaged by the 2019 bushfires.
• Scaling and stabilising the slope above the road to reduce the risk of rockfalls.
• Rockfall protection systems:
- About 20,000m2 of rockfall protection mesh to be installed on the upslope.
- Over 1km of fencing at the bottom of the slope to catch falling rocks.
• Retaining walls on the downslope to enable sufficient carriageway width to install upslope catch fencing.
• Replacing and constructing additional concrete barriers.
• Major reconstruction works at the Gap cutting.
• Guardrail with rubrail to protect motorcycle riders from impacts with posts.
• Wide centre line treatment to increase separation of opposing traffic.
• Constructing an emergency stopping bay 1km before the Alan Cunningham monument.

What you will be doing
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
• Plan, organize, and delegate tasks and resources effectively.
• Inspect and review work quality, productivity, and project schedules.
• Prioritizing and managing multiple tasks concurrently, including leading a team.
• Implementing workplace health and safety initiatives and procedures to ensure the well-being of workers, visitors, and the public, as well as to prevent property damage.
• Handle all plant, equipment, and machinery, including experience in training team members on their safe operation.
• Conduct site inductions, maintain site diaries, conduct daily pre-starts, issue permits, facilitate toolbox talks, and manage timesheets.
• Comprehend and apply relevant legislation and regulations.
