ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated person to work for Narang Bir-rong Aboriginal Corporation (Narang Bir-rong). Narang Bir-rong provides Family Support Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families in Western Sydney, Nepean Blue Mountains, Northern Sydney/Eastern Sydney/Sydney and connected communities as well as Out of Home Care placements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people who cannot remain at home due to abuse and/or neglect.
The role is full-time (35hrs) and all roles are based at our Penrith office.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
This roles plays a critical role in supporting casework teams across programs within Narang Bir-rong, providing consultation on the emotional and behavioural needs of children and young people.
Through crisis intervention, caregiver training, and continuous improvement, the role aims to improve long-term outcomes for children within Narang Bir-rong, enhance placement stability, and facilitate family reunification.
NBAC PAY SCALES (ABOVE AWARD WAGE)
CW/S6 to CW/S14
Total Package Value: $92,806.10 - $117,898.51 (Package includes leave loading and Superannuation, and is dependent on experience)
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Aboriginality
- Qualifications in psychology, counselling, mental health or relevant field.
- Qualifications or experience in community services or relevant field.
- High level of oral and written communication skills and demonstrated report writing and use of Microsoft office programs including word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Experience of knowledge in child and family welfare and in foster care or a related area of alternate care for children is desirable, although not essential.
- Experience in working in partnership with community services and other services/agencies to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.
- Knowledge of issues surrounding abuse and neglect of children and the impact of trauma and children protection
- Knowledge of issues pertaining to the Stolen Generations and transgenerational trauma o Strong foundation in applied behaviour analysis.
- Understanding of behavioural characteristics associated with behaviour disorders, autism, intellectual disabilities, traumatic brain injuries and other behaviour issues.
- Capacity to handle emotionally charged situations.
- Ability to train other people to apply behaviour management techniques effectively.
- Has knowledge of and knows how to work with various support systems that are available in a community.
- Knowledge and understanding of state and federal laws and regulations associated with special education.
- Has a basic understanding of instructional methods and education curriculums.
- Varied professional and general life experience.
- Mature outlook and well-developed communication skills.
- Valid NSW Driver’s license
- Probity checks including NSW Working with Children’s check & National Police Check
- Evidence of COVID-19 Vaccination
