Join a team that empowers individuals, drives positive change, and supports your professional growth!

About Us

Spear & Arrow Therapeutic is committed to providing high-quality, person-centred behaviour support to individuals with disabilities. Our approach is built on respect, leadership, boldness, education, empowerment, and perseverance. We believe that everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported, and we strive to create meaningful, lasting change for the people we work with.

What is Behaviour Support?

Behaviour support helps people live happier, more independent lives by understanding why behaviours occur and creating positive, supportive environments. It focuses on building skills, improving well-being, and encouraging independence, ensuring that support is ethical, person-centred, and respectful.

What is Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)?

PBS is a proven approach that helps individuals learn new skills, feel included, and have more choice in their lives. Recognised under the NDIS framework, PBS focuses on the reasons behind behaviours and develops practical, proactive strategies to support positive change. It is strength-based, reducing behaviours of concern through ethical, least-restrictive methods, using Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBA) to create personalised plans.

Why Join Us?

  • Support & Supervision – Ongoing professional guidance from experienced Behaviour Practitioners.
  • Professional Development – Annual PD budget to support your learning and growth.
  • Work-Life Balance – Flexible work arrangements to fit your lifestyle.
  • Resources & Equipment – Company iPhone, laptop, and access to high-quality resources.
  • Travel Benefits – Access to company vehicles or reimbursement for personal vehicle use.
  • Training & Collaboration – In-depth training around NDIS, PBS frameworks, and restrictive practices, plus opportunities to work within a multidisciplinary team including OTs, Support Coordinators, and Psychosocial Recovery Coaches.

About the Role

As a Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will design and implement positive behaviour support plans to help individuals achieve their goals. You will work closely with participants, families, carers, and other professionals to create supportive, empowering environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct behavioural assessments to understand behaviours of concern.
  • Develop and implement individualised behaviour support plans that align with PBS principles.
  • Provide training and coaching to families, carers, and support teams.
  • Monitor progress, adjust interventions, and ensure compliance with NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements.
  • Advocate for participants’ rights, promoting inclusion and independence.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic support.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and meet NDIS reporting requirements.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference and driven to support individuals with disabilities.

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification/s in Behavioural Science, Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Disability, or a related field.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities and behaviours of concern.
  • Understanding of the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework and restrictive practice policies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Registration (or eligibility) with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
  • Valid Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel for community-based work.
  • First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • NDIS Worker Check, Police Check, and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).

Key Elements of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

PBS is built on proven strategies that empower individuals and create meaningful, lasting change:

  • Helping People Live Their Best Life: Support is designed to increase confidence, independence, and opportunities, making behaviours of concern less necessary.
  • Preventing Problems Before They Start: PBS focuses on teaching new skills and creating supportive environments rather than reacting to challenges.
  • Involving Families & Support Teams: Parents, carers, and support workers are key partners in creating individualised, meaningful plans.
  • Looking at the Whole Picture: PBS recognises that behaviour is influenced by surroundings, relationships, and experiences. It works to improve these areas for lasting change.
  • Using the Best Research & Methods: PBS brings together behavioural science, disability research, and person-centred practices to create ethical and effective support plans.
  • Real-World, Practical Solutions: Every strategy is realistic, respectful, and fits into daily life, making support meaningful and sustainable.

At Spear & Arrow, we use PBS to provide compassionate, proactive, and personalised support. We believe in helping individuals build confidence, independence, and meaningful connections in their communities.
