Hands on People (HOP) is a community services provider dedicated to supporting individuals living with disabilities. As the Manager - Human Resources, you will be at the forefront of driving our HR vision and strategy. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for people, strategy, and operational excellence. You will lead HR initiatives that promote a culture of growth, inclusivity, and high performance. Your expertise in human resource management will help us attract, engage, and retain top talent while also ensuring that we comply with the latest employment laws and best practices. Your focus will be on supporting employees throughout their journey with Hands on People Pty Ltd, from onboarding new hires to guiding their professional development. By ensuring that every team member is set up for success, you will play a crucial role in creating a work environment where everyone can reach their full potential. Manager—ensures staff suitability and staff well-being within an organization through creating and managing employee programs and strategies.

Recruitment & Staffing:

  • Job posting & advertising: Creating and posting job openings across various platforms.
  • Candidate screening: Reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, and assessing candidates.
  • Onboarding: Ensuring new employees are properly integrated into the company with the necessary tools, training, and introductions.

Employee Relations:

  • Conflict resolution: Managing disputes between employees or between employees and management.
  • Employee counseling: Offering support for personal or work-related issues.
  • Maintaining workplace culture: Ensuring the company’s values, mission, and culture are upheld.

Training & Development:

  • Employee training programs: Organizing skill-building sessions, leadership training, and professional development.
  • Career path guidance: Helping employees plan and progress in their careers.
  • Performance appraisals: Conducting regular reviews and feedback sessions to ensure growth.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Benefits administration: Managing employee benefits like health insurance, retirement plans, and bonuses.
  • Salary benchmarking: Ensuring that compensation is competitive within the market.

Compliance & Legal Services:

  • Policy development & enforcement: Ensuring the company follows local and international labour laws, creating and enforcing policies to ensure legal compliance.

  • Handling employee grievances: Dealing with complaints in accordance with labour laws and company policies.

Performance Management:

  • Setting objectives: Aligning employee performance goals with company objectives.
  • Evaluations & feedback: Regular assessments of employee performance and providing feedback.
  • Disciplinary actions: Enforcing company rules regarding behaviour and performance.

Workforce Planning & Development:

  • Succession planning: Preparing for future leadership needs and ensuring talent pipelines are in place.
  • Workforce analytics: Analyzing data to ensure the company is effectively managing its human resources.
  • Organizational restructuring: Implementing changes to the workforce to meet evolving business needs.

Strategic Requirement:

  • Engage in strategic-level activities to ensure the organization's adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and objectives related to enhancing service provision.
  • Exhibit a steadfast dedication to the concepts of continuous improvement, actively participate in research and educational endeavours, and adhere to set benchmarks of excellence.
  • Maintain a proactive approach in researching trends and breakthroughs to consistently enhance the quality and efficacy of services.

Employee Engagement & Retention:

  • Employee surveys: Collecting feedback to gauge employee satisfaction and areas for improvement.
  • Recognition programs: Developing programs to recognize and reward employees for their achievements.
  • Retention strategies: Creating initiatives to keep top talent and reduce turnover.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI):

  • Promoting diversity: Ensuring the workplace is inclusive and represents a diverse set of perspectives.
  • Training and education: Organizing DEI training to reduce bias and promote an inclusive culture.
  • Policy enforcement: Implementing and enforcing policies that ensure equal treatment and opportunities for all employees.
  • Report: Submit Gender Equality Report yearly

Networking:

  • Maintain well-established networks and contacts both inside the sector and internally.

Financial Sustainability:

  • To ensure the longevity and long-term financial viability of organizations.
  • Adhering to the instructions provided by the finance department is crucial to optimize the organization's operational efficiency. Regularly review the budget, ensuring that necessary changes are recommended and accountability is fostered.

Additional Position Responsibilities

  • Manage government contractual requirements under the NDIS guidelines.
  • Continuous professional development and training are vital in order to remain updated on industry standards, hence cultivating a culture of learning and advancement inside our organisation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an HR Manager or in a similar senior HR role.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR functions, including pay & benefits administration, recruitment processes, performance management systems, and employment law compliance (especially in the NDIS and health services sectors).
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with employees and senior management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and industry standards in both the disability services and general employment sectors.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws (Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award [MA000100]), labour regulations, and workplace safety standards.
  • Knowledge of ELMO HRMS (Human Resource Management System) is highly preferred. Familiarity with ELMO will be considered an added advantage for this position, as it will enable the candidate to efficiently manage and streamline HR functions such as recruitment, performance management, employee engagement, and more.
