About the role

Saltwater Restaurant and renowned wedding venue is seeking an experienced and talented Head Chef to join our team at our acclaimed restaurant located in the picturesque coastal town of Fingal Bay, NSW. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for leading our kitchen and culinary team to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our guests and wonderful memories for the guests o

What you'll be doing

  • Oversee all kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and the efficient running of the kitchen
  • Develop innovative, seasonal menus that showcase the best of local and regional produce
  • Lead and mentor a team of skilled chefs and kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, and service
  • Implement and maintain strict food safety and hygiene protocols
  • Collaborate with the restaurant management team to ensure alignment with business goals and customer expectations
  • Monitor and control kitchen expenses to maintain profitability
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing kitchen culture

What we're looking for

  • Significant experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in a reputable restaurant or hospitality setting
  • Proven track record of leading and developing a high-performing culinary team
  • Exceptional culinary skills and a deep understanding of food trends, flavours, and presentation
  • Excellent time management, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in managing kitchen budgets
  • Passion for using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest food safety and hygiene standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
