About the role

Join the dynamic team at RISINGCONTRACTORS PTY LTD' as a full-time Civil Engineering Draftsperson based in Melbourne, VIC. In this pivotal role, you will provide high-quality drafting support to our engineering projects, contributing to the successful delivery of critical infrastructure across the region.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Drafting & Design

Preparing technical drawings, modeling, and CAD designs, including initial sketches, diagrams, tables, and designs for civil engineering projects such as drainage systems, roads, highways, dams, bridges, pedestrian pathways, and other civil structures.
Utilizing engineering software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, and MicroStation for precise design.
Developing and refining initial and revised plans to ensure compliance with national and state standards.

2. Material & Cost Estimation

Calculating the volume and type of materials required for concrete works, excavation, and asphalt paving, along with estimating raw material costs.
Collaborating with procurement and supply teams to select high-quality and cost-effective materials, ensuring that the final works comply with technical specifications, standards, and contractual provisions.
Preparing cost estimates for projects and providing initial financial reports.

3. Engineering Analysis & Calculations

Analyzing geotechnical data and topographic maps to design appropriate infrastructure.
Performing structural and technical calculations to assess the durability and safety of civil projects.
Evaluating the environmental impacts and weather conditions affecting the projects.

4. Project Coordination & Implementation

Collaborating with civil engineers, supervisors, and contractors to oversee the implementation of designs and standards.
Scheduling project timelines and ensuring proper execution of operations.
Inspecting project quality and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

5. Quality Control & Site Supervision

Conducting on-site inspections and monitoring construction quality.
Performing soil and material testing to verify project quality.
Assisting in strength testing of concrete, asphalt, and engineering structures.

6. Environmental & Safety Compliance

Ensuring compliance with environmental and workplace safety regulations at all project stages.
Implementing waste management and pollution reduction methods in civil projects.
Collaborating with safety engineers to identify and mitigate project risks

Key Skills

1. Technical & Software Skills

AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation (Drafting & Modeling)
SAP2000 / ETABS / STAAD.Pro (Structural Analysis)
ArcGIS / QGIS (Geospatial Data Modeling & Analysis)
Excel VBA / MATLAB (Numerical Calculations & Data Analysis)

2. Analytical & Computational Skills

Ability to analyze geotechnical and topographic data
Performing structural, hydraulic, and civil engineering calculations
Evaluating the durability and performance of construction materials

3. Execution & Supervision Skills

Experience in infrastructure, road, and civil construction projects
Managing workforce and subcontractors
Ensuring project quality, safety, and regulatory compliance

4. Project Management Skills

Project scheduling and execution planning
Preparing progress reports and technical documentation
Coordinating between various teams to ensure project completion on time and within budget

5. Communication & Interpersonal Skills

Effective communication with managers, engineers, contractors, and laborers
Documenting and presenting technical reports to clients
Skilled in negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors

Job Requirement

Candidate must have Master of Civil Engineering (Construction Management)
