Full-Time Sous Chef (Breakfast & Lunch) at popular brekkie & lunch cafe in McLaren Vale (Weekends Required)
If you're passionate about food, keen on work/life balance, and love being a big part of a small and mighty team, we've got a role that might just be up your alley. We've got an opening for a sous chef to join our team in our McLaren Vale breakfast and lunch cafe, slotting in alongside our amazing head chef, cooks, and kitchen hand.
About the Actual Role:
- This is a full-time position 37.5hrs/week (includes weekends and public holidays)
- You'll be responsible for preparing and plating high-quality breakfast and lunch dishes - either solo on quieter days, or alongside our Head Chef during fast-paced weekends.
- Unlike a lot of chef roles, this position requires no late nights, very minimal overtime, and 2 set days off in a row during the week (we all deserve a “weekend” even if it doesn't fall on Sat/Sun #hospo).
- You'll also be responsible for supporting our amazing Head Chef to develop new seasonal menus, and keep the kitchen operating smoothly.
- Working closely with a small but mighty team, with plenty of opportunity to have your voice heard and bring your creativity to the kitchen, under the guidance of our Head Chef
- We also know that it's a huge win for everyone if you love your job, and can stick around for the long-haul, which is why holidays are very encouraged - work/life balance matters, as much as limitless free coffees on your shift (did we mention that's another perk?!) You're entitled to 4 weeks of annual leave as a full-time employee, and we'll help make sure you can take 'em.

- A passion for cooking, goes head-over-heels for brekky/lunch food, and really cares about quality.
- A strong work ethic, where corners don't get cut unless it's for plating purposes.
- The ability to work efficiently under pressure and keep your cool in a fast-paced kitchen.
- A positive attitude and fun vibes to bring to the team
- The ability to work independently without someone over your shoulder.
FYI: This role ISN'T for you if…
- You don't think the kitchen crew and front-of-house team should mesh. We're ONE team here, with a common goal to serve our customers up good food, and good service.
- You're flakey, lazy, and aren't someone who follows through on your word. We're a small team, and need to be able to rely on one another.
- You aren't passionate about what you do. Our cafe works because we all genuinely love our jobs - we want you to feel the same.
- You don't have any experience in a kitchen. We're looking for someone who knows their way around a kitchen.

I wish it was my local but I’m definitely willing to make the trek for the 10/10 service & food! I’ve been to Manna 3 times in the past couple months and have been blown away by the food, staff and atmosphere it offers! We stumbled upon it and to say I think about their smashed avocado & apple juice multiple times a day is an understatement!! Staff are always friendly and you can tell they actually love what they do!! + it is very family friendly 🩵🩵🩵 - Celine

We stayed in McLaren Vale in late May and decided to have breakfast here. Wish we lived closer as I’d go back again and again.
The coffee was brilliant - I had the Loaded Croissant which I rated very highly. My wife had the Vego loaded croissant. Haloumi was also very good. - William
Manna is a dining revelation in McLaren... the food was cooked with great care and technique , which shows in the marvellous, well plated and tasty food. Front of house were also courteous and accommodating. The mushroom dish is a must have; so tender, it melts in your mouth! - Ronaldo
