About the Job
This position is for a First Nations person with language skills, preferably in Arrernte or another central desert language, with a strong understanding of traditional and western health. The First Nations Health Promotion Officer will work with children, young people, elders and families to promote family health and wellbeing and to address key health concerns in the community. The position will provide information in first language and will work with western health promotion staff to develop family health plans and provide support to meet those outcomes.
About You
This position requires language skills, preferably Arrernte (western, central and/or eastern) or any other central desert language, with a strong understanding of traditional and western health. We will consider people wanting to return to health or re-enter the workforce and are flexible around hours (part time or full time). It does require knowledge/experience in the health promotion &/or support sector within a First Nations community. A current OCHRE card & Police Check or willingness to obtain is essential.
