About the Role:

This is a newly-created, permanent full-time position to support a growing cosmetics brand sold at retail (and online) in Australia, and in some international countries. You’ll be responsible for delivering concepts through to finished art for a variety of projects, mainly packaging-oriented but also some point of sale/digital/web/social. You’ll be part of a total Creative Design team of 5.

When the Art Director goes on planned maternity leave, you’ll also have the opportunity to step up (add’l compensation) to help temporarily manage the team’s overall project workflow. Scope of this additional opportunity & compensation will be discussed with qualified candidates during the interview process.

Please note, due to equipment necessary to perform your duties, this role is F/T in-office (with flexible hours), Port Melbourne location.

Reporting to the Art Director (permanent), and GM of Product & Strategy (interim), your responsibilities will include:

• Design & photography for packaging, and some web/digital marketing/social media content, in adherence to required specifications (including established brand guidelines, based on briefs from GM of Product & Strategy and Sr. Brand Manager
• Ensure design direction is aligned with core brand equity by leveraging in-house expertise & established brand guidelines
• Prepare concept artwork for review & suitability for market/mock-up, and present to internal team
• Finished art: preparing artwork for production
• Brand & style design work, product packaging & layouts, marketing material: POS, catalogue, and large format stands & displays for retail
• Implementation of ACCC/QAQC legal artwork requirements regarding weight formatting, font sizing & wording allowances
• Photography of concept, mock-up, samples, finished production as needed
• Keeping record & tracking artwork process from PP sampling through to approved finished art ensuring quality and compliance is met
• Ensure that image library is kept up to date: archive information cataloguing, maintain artwork & image file storage & access system

About You:

• Tertiary qualifications in Graphic Design preferred, with at least 7-8 yrs.’ experience, particular emphasis on packaging, cosmetics products highly preferred
• Advanced Adobe Creative Cloud Software (Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects)
• Knowledge and extensive experience in pre-press and packaging design
• Genuine interest in/passion for the beauty industry a big plus
• Excellent time management skills
• Highly organized, ability to multi-task
• Detail-oriented, strong problem-solving skills
• Adaptable and able to work within client and art guidelines
• Disciplined with a keen eye for detail to assist in finished art, product photography and photoshopping
• Excellent team player & clear, proactive communication skills (e.g. proficient at interpreting briefs from Marketing/Product Development & relaying to design team colleagues)
• Must genuinely love working in a fast-paced & dynamic environment!
