The City of Marion is located in Adelaide's south-western suburbs and is only about 10 kilometres from the Adelaide CBD.

Our Rating Services Business Unit is critical to the ongoing support and processing of rates for thousands of ratepayers.
Due to a promotion, there is now a permanent full-time position on offer for a customer-service orientated applicant with strong numeracy, data entry and computer skills to assist with daily processing functions in relation to rates.
Reporting to the Team Leader Financial Services, and working in a great team environment, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely maintenance of Council’s property owner and rates database while providing exemplary customer service to external and internal customers.
The purpose of this role is to assist with daily processing functions including records maintenance and debt collection processes with a focus on accuracy and delivery of excellence in customer service.
A day in life as our new Rating Services Officer would include the following.
- Attending to service requests, telephone, counter and written enquiries from customers, and providing accurate advice regarding rating process, procedures and requirements.
- Undertaking administrative tasks such as data entry, search requests, notices, reports, mail, assisting with daily payment files.
- Investigating anomalies associated with payments, property settlements and follow up with conveyancers and ratepayers as required.
- Helping with debt collection processes and procedures including liaising with ratepayers to obtain payment arrangements.
- Assist other members of the Financial Services team as required.
Strong communication skills and ability to maintain good working relationships both internally and externally is vital to this role. Your prior experience would have included providing exceptional customer service using your well-developed interpersonal skills, potentially with customers from diverse backgrounds.
It is expected you would have used corporate technologies, preferably including property database and systems in electronic records management. It is assumed you possess an accurate and high level of numeracy and data entry skills, and competency with spreadsheets.
Those that may have some debt collection experience may be favourably viewed as would those with an understanding of the local government act who have performed a similar role.
