The Leave Officer – Operations is responsible for responding to all operational leave queries for the emergency stream. Leave queries may include but not limited to parental leave, annual leave, personal leave, long service leave, special leave and others leave types. This position requires collaboration with the Workforce Scheduling team to ensure that operational leave is appropriately scheduled and managed. This is a 12 month fixed opportunity.
What you’ll do:
- Ensure operation leave queries are responded to within three business days of being received
- Provide information and advice to operations team members around leave
- Ensuring leave information is entered accurately and efficiently to the CHRIS 21 Payroll system
- Provide leave reports for operational leadership teams that may include excessive annual/ long service leave and the monitoring of excessive book offs
- Provide advice and recommend strategies to operational leadership teams in reducing excessive leave liability
- Collaborate with Workforce Scheduling team to ensure operational leave is appropriately scheduled and managed
- Escalate complex leave queries to line manager for guidance and support
- Inform, notify and keep line manager up to date of complex leave matters that have been left unresolved for more than seven business days
What you’ll need:
- Experience in Scheduling
- Experience with Chris21 or iChris, highly advantageous.
- Background in corporate, health, community or commercial based sectors
- Knowledge of systems, tools and process within the ambit of this position
- Good problem solving and organisational skills
- High attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Experience using payroll systems
- Able to work under pressure and to deadlines
- Proficient in MS Office suite
- Knowledge of awards and enterprise agreements
- Ability to understand National Employment Standard, Long Service Leave Act, internal Leave documents and articulate this back to the workforce around applicable entitlements
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications desirable; or
- Demonstrated experience in payroll, HR or leave essential
