Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Cumberland and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. What you'll be doing
Are you dedicated to using your expertise in planning, research and evaluation to enhance health outcomes for the diverse communities of western Sydney? If so, we want to hear from you!

We are offering a temporary part-time (16 hours per week) job share position until December 2025. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the current Planning and Evaluation Manager to drive high quality, evidence-informed population health initiatives aligned with our strategic objectives. Building the research and evaluation capabilities of our health promotion staff, and establishing strong research partnerships are key to success in this role.

We’re seeking candidates who posses:

  • Extensive experience in the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of population health promotion programs.
  • Proven expertise in applying research and evaluation methodologies.
  • Exceptional skills in population health research and evaluation.
  • A track record of supporting, coaching, and mentoring teams to develop their research and evaluation competencies.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
  • A comprehensive understanding of the determinants of health and their impact on service delivery, particularly in relation to Aboriginal communities, socio-economically disadvantaged groups and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

How to Apply

Selection Criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in health promotion, public health, epidemiology or other discipline relevant to population health planning, research and evaluation
  2. Demonstrated high level knowledge, experience and leadership skills in the planning, design, implementation and evaluation of population health promotion programs aligned to population health promotion programs, including program logic, instrument design, data collection and analysis methodology
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of population health planning, research and evaluation methodologies (qualitative and quantitative), including the use of frameworks, theories and models to address complex population health issues. Ideally this would include culturally appropriate methods to use with diverse populations.
  4. Demonstrated experience supporting, coaching and mentoring staff to build their skills in population health program planning and evaluation
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of current population health issues and priorities and experience in applying evidence-informed health promotion interventions (particularly in relation to healthy eating, active living, healthy built environments, tobacco control and e-cigarettes).
  6. Proven ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships, both internally and externally, and negotiate and work effectively with a range of partners to achieve health goals.
  7. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication, presentation, and facilitation skills including a variety of writing and editing styles (reports, peer reviewed publications, ethics and funding applications, briefs, public presentations, translation of information for promoting health promotion work)
  8. Current unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence
