In December 2024, we commenced providing health, mental health and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network. Our team, which includes nurses, general practitioners, and allied health professionals, offer a wide range of healthcare services to detainees, including but not limited to health assessments, chronic disease management, health promotion and targeted population health education, medication, wound management, immunisation, and other primary health clinical interventions. HCA also introduced a Virtual Care Centre (VCC), a 24/7 service that provides remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations, helping to enhance onsite care for detainees.
Full time and Part time positions available as Registered Nurse (Primary Health Nurse)
Located 90km northeast of Perth the Yongah Hill detention centre clinic operates very similar to a community clinic.
Location allowance $10.00 per day - Food allowance $35.00 per day
As Primary Health Care Nurse, you will conducts comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care in accordance with best practice and clinical guidelines to improve the health outcomes and wellbeing for detainees who engage in healthcare services. Reporting to the Health Service Manager. The primary health care nurse will works in partnership with the multidisciplinary team to provide person centred, high quality, safe care.
Join us in bringing a new approach to medical and wellbeing care for detainees by:
- Participate in the assessment, planning and implementation of care based on individual detainee needs incorporating a person centred approach to to support their health and wellbeing goals.
- Ensure accuracy and maintenance of medical records is compliant with relevant professional standards and legislative requirements.
- Undertake a wide range of clinical duties including but not limited to immunisations, pathology collection, wound care, health assessments, care planning, medication management, health promotion and education etc, ensuring care is evidence-based and delivered using clinical guidelines and practice to underpin competency.
- Participate in initial and periodic clinical assessment of patients, including Fit to Travel (FTT)
- Provide proficient, evidence-based chronic disease management.
- Maintain a high standard of conduct and work performance to promote HCA’s reputation with key internal and external stakeholders.

- Current AHPRA Registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
- Current First Aid & BLS Certification
- Current Police Check
- Must have at least 5 years post graduate nursing experience in either primary health, emergency care, rural and remote nursing, community health, general practise or other relevant experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues in the delivery of drug and alcohol related health services and the ability to understand and apply relevant Commonwealth and State legislation, policies standards, guidelines and frameworks to ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations
- Relevant Post-graduate qualification (desirable)
