About the Role:
Great opportunity to join the Rail Industry! This role is based at a Rail Depot in East Perth, supervising and managing the onsite maintenance team of Mechanical Fitters and Electricians, to carry out preventative and reactive maintenance to the Perth Passenger Trains.

The role will see you responsible for providing a wide range of Maintenance Delivery, Contract Management, Overhauls Management, Scheduling, Planning, Stakeholder and Asset Management.

It will suit someone that works autonomously and under their own steam and will be working closely with the depot manager onsite and, with other department heads, remotely, at other sites.

The role will be responsible for ensuring the business meets and where possible, exceeds it's contract obligations when it comes to availability and downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Fleet Manager to ensure compliance with contract obligations across maintenance, overhaul activities and asset management requirements.
• Allocate labour/resources and oversee scheduled, unscheduled, facilities and workshop maintenance tasks to meet operational and service requirements.
• Maintain quality and customer service standards, conduct inspections, verify testing records, and approve rolling stock handover when required.
• Assist with development and improvement of work instructions, procedures, work orders, and ensure accurate admin, documentation and rosters are maintained.
• Lead, supervise and support the maintenance team including performance management, coaching, mentoring, disciplinary processes and promoting KPI achievement.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (including PTA/Yard Ops) to support planning, delivery, coordination and resolution of related operational and train handover requirements.
• Promote and support continuous improvement, hazard identification, risk management, safety compliance, environmental standards and adherence to Zero Harm culture.
• Ensure effective communication and collaboration across maintenance and wider business to support asset management, quality outcomes and overall contract success.

What You’ll Need:

• Previous experience managing / supervising a team of 5 to 10 staff.
• Experience running a team in a maintenance environment, ideally in heavy industry or similar.
• Ideally, either a trades background or, hands on experience within a maintenance environment.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office 365 – Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ideally (not essential), some sort of ERP / MRP system experience (SAP, Maximo, etc)
• Ability to pass a Rail Medical and, Drug and Alcohol Test.
• Valid C Class Driver’s License.
