Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service
Posted 15 hours ago
An exciting opportunity exists for a Social Worker to join our highly functioning and diligent social work team at Sunshine Coast University Hospital. As a crucial part of our multidisciplinary team, social workers play a vital role in providing holistic care to patients and their families by addressing the social, emotional, and practical factors that impact health and recovery. You'll work within the dynamic environment of the acute hospital setting, providing essential support to those in their greatest time of need.
Social work clinicians within allied health work as a team to meet clinical demand in keeping with Clinical Prioritisation Document. Staff will be required to work across other clinical services and facilities within Allied Health as required to assist in meeting patient care needs, managing leave cover, and succession planning of staff.
Sunshine Coast Health employs over 1300 Allied Health Professionals, Clinical Assistants, and other associated team members in several organisational structures. They can be located across all facilities and directorates; hence a robust governance model is imperative to ensure staff and patients are well supported, services are safe, and outcomes met. Allied Health staff work mostly under either a centralised profession-based model, or a dispersed multidisciplinary team (MDT) model. This means there is a mix of governance models applied across the Clinical Services Directorates.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Deliver independent high level Social Work clinical practice with infrequent need for direct clinical practice supervision. Exercise professional judgement to a complex caseload, adapting routine clinical practice based on valid and reliable evidence.
- Provide high level clinical advice, education and influence towards a common patient-centred vision and direction to professional operational teams and relevant stakeholders regarding service delivery.
- Provide leadership oversight and clinical practice supervision to less experienced Social Work practitioners and students as delegated.
- Adhere to relevant expectations outlined in the SCH and Allied Health Governance Framework documents and Business Rules to ensure that best patient outcomes are achieved in a transparent, ethical and accountable manner.
Remuneration based pro rata on equivalent full time value up to $152 776 p.a, comprising salary rates: $62.75 - $67.53 p.h. employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HP4) (Fixed term temporary part position, 38 hrs p.f. for 10 months). About Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service
Public health services in Queensland are provided through 16 Hospital and Health Services (HHS). These are statutory bodies each governed by a Hospital and Health Board. Some public health services are also provided by private providers.
The Department of Health is responsible for the overall management of the public health system in Queensland, including monitoring the performance of HHSs.
Service agreements are negotiated between the Department of Health and each HHS. The service agreement determines the services that the department will purchase from the HHS and how much it will pay for the provision of these services (ie. the level of funding to be provided).
