About the Role
The City of Cockburn’s Youth Services team are seeking an energetic, motivated and committed Youth Worker of Aboriginal descent to join the team and to contribute to the provision of positive outcomes for local youth who present ‘at-risk’.
The role will be to work within the community to provide advocacy, information, referral and diversion activities to Aboriginal youths who are at-risk, assisting them to reduce at-risk behavior, improve relationships and achieve goals as developed in case management plans.
This role is located at our state-of-the-art Youth Centre, based in Success. The position has a current contract until June 2026 with possibility of extension subject to ongoing funding.
About you
You enjoy collaborating with others, work well independently, and have a curiosity to learn. You’ll do great here if you are an excellent communicator who gets a sense of achievement out of being part of a bigger picture and helping people.
In addition, the successful applicant will possess.
- Demonstrated experience in working with at risk young people, including those from Aboriginal backgrounds, and young people with disabilities.
- Achieved or working towards relevant post-secondary qualifications e.g. Youth Studies, Youth Work, Social Work (desirable).
- Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of challenging and engaging programs for young people.
- Experience working with the Aboriginal community and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current youth issues and trends
- Highly developed interpersonal, and well developed written and computer skills.

Salary: Starting from Level 4 Step 1 – Step 4 ($85,331.83 - $91,017.33) City of Cockburn Industrial Agreement 2025 based on qualification and experience.
