The Opportunity

This is a hands-on role with responsibility for designing, building, and maintaining a modern enterprise data platform on Microsoft Azure. You’ll work closely with analysts, developers, and business stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, reliable, and accessible.

The role suits someone who enjoys solving complex data problems, mentoring peers, and shaping scalable, cost-effective, and resilient data solutions.

What You'll Do

As an Azure Data Engineer, you’ll manage the organisation’s cloud data platform and support BI and analytics initiatives. Your work will ensure data is accessible, accurate, and ready for analysis, while also mentoring junior team members and collaborating with business teams.

• Design, develop, and manage a Data Warehouse on Microsoft Azure using SQL, Data Lake, and Data Factory.
• Build scalable, secure, and efficient ETL/ELT pipelines for multiple source systems.
• Model data to support reporting, dashboards, and operational insights.
• Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance across the platform.
• Mentor junior engineers and support BI developers and analysts.
• Monitor and optimise platform performance and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, vendors, and service teams to support integration and analytics initiatives.
• Evaluate and implement new tools, processes, and best practices to continuously improve the platform.

What You'll Bring

You’ll combine deep technical expertise with a collaborative, problem-solving approach and an eye for quality and efficiency.

• 5+ years’ experience in data engineering, with strong focus on Microsoft Azure (Azure SQL, Data Factory, Data Lake).
• Experience with ETL/ELT pipeline development and dimensional modelling.
• Strong SQL and T-SQL tuning experience.
• Knowledge of modern Data Warehouse architecture.
• Understanding of data governance, quality, and compliance practices.
• Strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to mentor or guide peers.
  

Desirable

• Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., DP-203).
• Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD, and automated testing for data solutions.
• Knowledge of Power Platform or Dynamics 365 data architecture
