Mechanic or Mechanical Workshop All-rounder

Territory Rent-a-Car Pty Ltd operates the Thrifty Car Rental franchise in the Northern Territory and Kimberley region of Western Australia with 13 branches spread across this region. The company is family owned and has been in business for over 57 years.

We are currently looking for a hardworking and dedicated person to work in our Alice Springs mechanical workshop. Whilst being a qualified mechanic would be preferred we will also consider applicants who are not qualified but have past experience with mechanical servicing and repairs.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

Undertake routine maintenance on fleet vehicles

Diagnose and repair general vehicle mechanical and electrical faults

Operate a tyre changing machine

Identify and source spare parts required to complete jobs

Conduct pre rental mechanical checks on four-wheel drive vehicles

Inspect vehicles thoroughly and report any damage, dents or mechanical repairs required to the branch manager

Assist with troubleshooting in the event that a vehicle breaks down whilst on rent

Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the relevant standards and company risk assessments/work instructions.

Ensure all vehicles meet the quality repair standards

Keep work areas clean and tidy

Carry out other non-mechanical tasks as required

Skills and Experience:

At least 2 years of relevant experience

A keen eye for details

Good communication skills

Work Health Safety (WHS) knowledge

Adhere to all company policies, and proactively contribute to maintaining a safe and clean work environment

Relevant Trade Qualification would be an advantage

Must have a full driver's license
