About the role
My client is a Sydney CBD based boutique firm with a long history of over 35 years yet still expanding and growing fast with internally promoted partners. They pride themselves on providing quality services across accounting, taxation, business advisory to their clients, including some of the well-known brands and industry leaders. The firm is known for its respectful, supportive culture and high staff retention.

They are now seeking an experienced professional with strong tax expertise to support their growing portfolio of clients. It is a hands-on role which blends general compliance, virtual CFO work, advisory tasks, direct client contact, and more - as much or less of each component as you would like. This is the point of difference of the firm's culture which focuses on each team member's own development and aims to bring everyone along the journey.

What you'll be doing / key responsibilities

Assist the manager to lead a portfolio of business clients of various sizes, taking responsibility for the full accounting and taxation compliance cycle

Assist with tax planning and advisory services to clients, ensuring they are informed and their obligations are met

Prepare and review complex financial statements, tax returns, activity statements and identify potential issues

Manage junior team members, delegating tasks and providing mentoring and supervision

What we're looking for / about you

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar

CA or CPA qualified

5+ years of post-qualification experience in a tax or business advisory role within a professional services or accounting firm in Australia

Proficient in using Xero, XPM, Excel and Outlook

Strong technical knowledge and ability to research and present own view for discussion

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues

Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team

A proactive and solutions-focused mindset
