About the role

This position works in the CCP Domain to ensure that clinical and procedural skills teaching proceeds as scheduled and also undertakes duties in the Paramedicine area. This position reports to the Faculty Laboratory Manager and is responsible for technical and laboratory tasks within the National School of Medicine.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure that the quality of the clinical skills program is consistent with AMC requirements.

Assisting with the planning, review and implementation of clinical and procedural skills training.

Ensuring that the clinical and procedural skills rooms are set-up appropriately for regular teaching sessions.

Ensuring that the rooms and resources for objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs) are set up correctly; and that the rooms are returned to their normal condition in a timely manner on completion of the examinations.

Creating encrypted student identification for objective structured clinical examinations.

Being responsible for maintaining an inventory of clinical and procedural skills resources and ordering.

Monitoring teaching models and in liaison with the CCP Chair, researching and ordering.

Ensuring that the clinical and procedural skills rooms are maintained at the highest standards.

Disposing of clinical and bio-hazardous waste according to current occupational health & safety guidelines

Assisting with CCP audio visual requirements such as assisting with recording of teaching methods or assessments and minor editing of the digital media.

Assisting the Clinical Skills Coordinator and CCP Support Officer as required.

Providing back up administrative support to the CCP team during peak and vacation periods.

Providing back up support to other administrative staff within the School during peak and vacation periods.

Qualifications, skills & experience

Completion of a diploma level qualification with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

Proven experience working in laboratories with relevant administrative experience.

Demonstrated ability to carry out laboratory tasking in a safe and accurate manner with strong attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills with the ability to work well with students and staff of the University.

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines, set and achieve realistic goals and to establish work priorities.

High level of computer literacy with proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products and internet applications.

Demonstrated ability to act with discretion and to maintain confidentiality.
