The Funding Officer, Targeted Programs is suited to someone who likes to have a diverse task list and is as comfortable working in a team as they are autonomously.

What you’ll Do

The Funding Officer, Targeted Programs sits in the Finance and Funding Portfolio in the Funding and System Reporting Team and provides an essential conduit to the Education Programs and Support Team that sits within the Education and Integrity Portfolio.

Working within the VCEA Funding and System Reporting Team, and alongside the Education Programs and Support team; the Finance Officer, Targeted Programs, is responsible for the financial administration, distribution, and monitoring of targeted program funding for primary and secondary Catholic education schools across Victoria.

What you’ll bring

Demonstrated experience in managing the financial aspects of targeted programs, including budgeting, reporting and ensuring funds are distributed and used in line with agreed priorities, ideally from an educational or similar setting.

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data, track expenditure and provide clear, accurate insights that support effective decision-making.

Confidence in preparing and monitoring budgets, drafting reports and contributing to discussions with committees and advisory groups.

Stellar communication skills that transcend all levels — you’re an active listener who shows respect for others and values feedback. Your interpersonal skills, refined throughout your career, enable you to engage and collaborate with a wide and diverse range of stakeholders. You’re comfortable presenting information in a clear and compelling way, tailored to your audience.

A practical understanding of funding compliance and reporting requirements, including those set out in the Australian Education Act.

A focus on continuous improvement, with an interest in refining templates, processes and systems to make financial management more efficient and transparent.

An organised and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and accountability.

Qualifications and Experience

Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business or Accounting and/or experience in a related field is desirable.

Qualified member of an accounting body (CPA/CAANZ) is highly desired.

A minimum of two years’ experience working in financial management, management accounting or related field.

Prior experience managing funding requests and allocations would set you up for success.
