Our local client is looking to expand their team, with a fulltime Payroll Officer, who holds solid expertise in end to end payroll, including award interpretation, and long service leave calculations.

Details of the role:

Remuneration: $96,379 per annum + 12% superannuation

Provisioning: Work laptop, keyboard, mouse, monitor, headset

Office locations: Lismore NSW, or Coffs Harbour NSW

Work type: Full time, permanent role commencing asap. Hybrid working options will be considered on a case by case basis (e.g. working from home 1-2 days per week).

Work hours: 7-hour day, 35-hour week, 70-hour fortnight. Business hours are generally between 8:30am - 4:30pm, or 9am - 5pm.

About the role:

This position has become available following an internal promotion, offering an excellent opportunity to step into a growing and evolving organisation. The role itself was established in early 2024 to support an expanding workforce and to help ease the workload of senior and management teams. Our client operates using EmpowerHR payroll software and currently manages a payroll of approximately 3,500 employees.

Key Responsibilities:

Processing a high volume of payroll data utilising the positional based EmpowerHR software

Apply knowledge of relevant provisions in the enterprise agreement and awards, DLCS policies and procedures as they relate to the payroll data to be entered into the new EmpowerHR payroll system

Assess unusual circumstances, variations and incomplete or conflicting data and discuss possible solutions with relevant personnel

Initiate contact with internal personnel to discuss and resolve problems

Use MS Excel skills to ensure the accurate transfer of the data

Work under the direction and instruction of the Team Leader, Payroll and follow identified steps, processes and methods to achieve the desired outcomes

Participate in discussions regarding business practices that may require change, discussion or decisions

Execute job responsibilities and provide input and information to the decision-making process

Under the direction of the Team Leader, Payroll, assist in the implementation of new business processes, assist with testing of the production system to ensure configuration is accurate for inbound/outbound integration with the PageUp recruitment software and contribute to the achievement of project milestones and deliverables in accordance with the project plan

Work with the recruitment/HR team and other key stakeholders to achieve the goals and major objectives of the EmpowerHR payroll project.

Mandatory Requirements:

Experience with cloud based payroll software (EmpowerHR is highly desirable)

Above average skills in MS Office software particularly Excel and Word

Attention to detail ensuring data entry is accurate

Effective and well developed oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member

Ability to interpret data and reconstruct in new formats.

Proven ability to work as an effective team member within a collaborative team environment.

Current Drivers Licence

Ability to obtain a National Police Check

Two work related reference checks
