Mackay Hospital and Health Service Mackay is a vibrant regional centre in tropical North Queensland, servicing a population of over 190,000. The Mackay Base Hospital is the referral hospital or the rural facilities at Proserpine, Bowen, Dysart, Clermont, Collinsville, Moranbah, and Sarina. Proserpine Hospital is the largest rural facility and offers birthing and surgical services.

Your opportunity

  • A Principal House Officer or Registrar is a medical practitioner in fourth or subsequent year of practical experience after eligibility for full registration as a medical practitioner. This role is required to participate in the provision, development and maintenance of an effective, efficient and equitable clinical service to hospital clients; and contribute to the continual improvement of medical education and dissemination of knowledge to staff and clients.

About the Department

The Emergency Department has 21 Acute bays that include 2 Resus Bays and 4 High Dependency bays, 12 Consult bays and a 14 bed Short Stay Unit. The Department is accredited for Specialist Fellowship Training by ACEM, ACRRM Advanced Skills Training (AST), and RACGP Core Generalist Training (CGT). We are an Adult/Mixed Non-Major Referral Base Emergency Department for Mackay Hospital & Health Service, currently Accredited as a Tier 3 Training Site for 12 Months of Training in Emergency Medicine. We also offer foundational, intermediate and Advanced Associateship ACEM Training programs in Emergency Medicine. There are opportunities for Non-ED Terms in Anaesthetics, ICU and other Departments. There are ample learning opportunities for point-of-care ultrasound through our FACEM cohort.

Salary & Other Benefits

Remuneration value up to $172,273 p.a. comprising salary between $4,966 p.f. - $5,758 p.f. - $142. (L4-L9).
