This established and forward-thinking professional services firm, based in North Sydney, is entering an exciting phase of expansion with plans to grow by more than 100% over the next 2–3 years. The business operates in a fast-paced, high-performing environment that combines professionalism with a modern, collaborative culture.

As part of their ambitious growth strategy, they are continuing a series of acquisitions and are seeking a Financial Controller who will play a key role in supporting this trajectory. This is a broad, hands-on role that blends financial management with commercial strategy, operational leadership, and direct partnership with the Managing Partner.

It is ideally suited to a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys variety, wants to make a tangible impact, and is looking for a long-term pathway toward a General Manager position.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, the Financial Controller will take full ownership of the finance function while working closely with senior leaders across the business. You will drive financial performance, deliver insights to guide strategic decision-making, and support the integration of future acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the end-to-end finance function, including accounting, reporting, and compliance.
• Prepare monthly board packs, management reports, and performance dashboards.
• Translate financial data into actionable commercial insights that support growth.
• Partner with the Managing Partner on strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and planning.
• Support ongoing acquisitions and integration of new business units.
• Lead process and systems improvement across finance and operations.
• Manage and mentor a small finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
• Play a central role in digital and systems transformation to support scalability.

As the business continues to expand, this role will naturally broaden to include more operational leadership and strategic responsibilities, offering a genuine progression path to General Manager.

Skills and Experience

• Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CA or CPA qualification preferred.
• Proven experience in financial management, financial control, or operational finance within professional services (accounting, consulting, or similar industries).
• Strong understanding of management and board reporting, compliance, and governance.
• Commercially focused with the ability to link financial outcomes to business strategy.
• Confident working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Digitally adept, with proficiency in Excel and exposure to tools such as XPM, Power BI, Ignition, or CRM systems (training provided).
• Excellent communication skills and confidence presenting to senior stakeholders and the board.
