POSITION VACANT: Animal Handler - Professional Dog Walker.

$55,000 - $60,000 salary (plus company car & benefits)

Full-time, permanent position

Inner Southeast Melbourne location

8.00 am – 4.00 pm (5 days per week roster)

Four weeks of paid annual leave (plus leave loading)

Woofers World is a well established and well regarded pet care business operating in the inner-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. We are looking for a relaxed, happy animal care professional with proven experience in the pet industry to join the Dog Walking Team. Candidates with formal education in dog training or animal services are considered favourably.

Our headquarters and grooming salon is located on North Road, Ormond. We provide dog walking, pet feeding, home boarding, dog daycare, and dog grooming to a fantastic group of clients in the inner south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

We are looking for a mature, responsible person who is fit, well presented, has good time management and can not only care for their charges to the highest of standards but can also nurture client relationships.

Requirements for this job:

Experience with working with dogs is essential as the role requires exercising and socialising clients’ dogs in group situations, often off-leash, in shared public spaces. Having theoretical behavioural science knowledge is vital for safe and effective animal handling, as Handlers mainly operate unaccompanied. You will be supported closely by a team of nine other dog handlers and will report daily to the Handler Coordinator.

Company car and detailed on-the-job training. An eight-week induction will help you learn policies and procedures; however, candidates must already have animal handling skills.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

Proven experience within the pet care industry

Full driver licence

Previous training or applied knowledge of canine behaviour

Exceptional time management

A team player with the ability to work unaccompanied

Relaxed and positive demeanour
