Goulburn Family Support Service Inc (GFSS) is seeking a motivated and compassionate Family Worker to join our team, delivering early intervention and family support services under the Children and Family Support (CAFS) Program, funded by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice.

The CAFS Program focuses on strengthening family well being and safety, increasing community connection, and supporting families early to prevent crises. The Family Worker plays a key role in achieving these outcomes through respectful, goal-based support using GFSS’s Explicit Affective Practice model.

Key Responsibilities

Provide early intervention casework and goal-based support to families experiencing stress or vulnerability.

Assist families to strengthen parenting skills, relationships, confidence, and daily living capacity.

Identify risks and support families to access appropriate services and supports.

Liaise and advocate with government and non-government agencies to coordinate holistic service responses.

Contribute to community engagement activities that promote connection and participation.

Maintain accurate case notes and reporting in line with GFSS and DCJ requirements.

Participate in supervision, team meetings, and service development activities.

Essential Criteria

Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services (or related field).

Demonstrated experience providing early intervention or family support.

Understanding of child protection legislation and the principles of child and family well being and safety.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Sound computer literacy, including case notes, email, and word processing.

Current Driver’s Licence and reliable, insured vehicle.

Desirable

Knowledge of local community resources and referral pathways in the Goulburn region.

Experience working with families from diverse backgrounds.

Conditions of Employment

Award: Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 [MA000100]

Stream: Social and Community Services

Classification: Level 3, Pay Point 2–3 (depending on qualifications and experience)

Rate: $39.56 – $40.46 per hour + 12% superannuation and salary packaging benefits.

Employment subject to a Working With Children Check and National Criminal Record Check.

Attractive not-for-profit salary packaging options – up to $15,900 per year.
