Job Title: Mechanical Fitter
Location: Boronia Melbourne, VIC

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our team in Melbourne. This hands-on role involves the assembly, installation, and testing of complex machinery used in food processing and packaging. You will collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to ensure high standards of mechanical build quality, safety, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical components and systems according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Perform precision fitting, alignment, and adjustment of machine parts.
• Conduct functional testing and fault-finding during and after assembly.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and conventional machines (e.g., lathes, grinders, milling machines).
• Work with engineers and technicians to resolve mechanical issues and improve build processes.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to food industry hygiene and safety standards.
• Support commissioning activities and provide technical assistance during machine installation at customer sites when required.
• Document work performed and maintain accurate records of assembly and testing procedures.

Skills & Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade or equivalent.
• Proven experience in mechanical fitting, ideally within the food manufacturing or packaging machinery sector.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Forklift and confined space tickets (desirable).
• Willingness to travel occasionally for site installations or support.

Desirable Attributes

• Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Familiarity with stainless steel fabrication and food-grade equipment standards.
• Knowledge of robotic systems or automated machinery (a plus).
