About the opportunity

At Primary Health Tasmania, our purpose is to create sustainable, high-quality health and wellbeing solutions with, and for, the Tasmanian community - making sure Tasmanians get the right health care, in the right place and at the right time.

A new role has been created to support commissioning approaches that connect services, streamline referral pathways, and enable better system planning and coordination across the mental health and psychosocial support sectors.

As the Advisor – Mental Health Service Navigation and Planning, you will play a pivotal role in making mental health and psychosocial services better connected and easier to navigate.

You will be joining the new Commissioning Coordination team within our established Health Service Commissioning business unit. The team was created to bring greater consistency and coordination to how we plan, monitor and improve commissioned services across Tasmania.

This is a unique opportunity – that will build on your existing mental health and psychosocial support service sector knowledge and combines on-the-ground system mapping with planning and stakeholder collaboration, giving you the chance to shape referral pathways and strengthen integration to provide improved access to mental health and psychosocial services for Tasmanians.

What you would be doing

Working with the Commissioning Coordination team your focus will be:

Collaborate with the service design and contractor relationships teams to improve integration with the mental health and psychosocial support services

Contribute to planning for service design and service quality improvements that promote a better-connected stepped care experience for consumers.

Facilitate more effective service navigation of the mental health service system for consumers

Enhance referral pathways and service coordination across the wider Tasmanian mental health system

The role brings a systems and coordination lens and works with a range of internal and external partners to help build clear referral pathways and service models that support a more connected and seamless care experience for consumers.

Here's what you’ll look like

You will have experience working or sound demonstrated knowledge of health service delivery environments with an understanding of local and/or system level access issues impacting on efficient and effective mental health service delivery. An awareness of local and national mental health reform agendas is beneficial.

These skills will get you off to a great start:

Collaboration: Strong experience engaging and working cooperatively with consumers and stakeholders to identify service navigation issues and solutions

Problem solving: Demonstrated ability to analyse and assess service models and propose improvements

Communication: The ability to interpret and communicate service data and feedback in a clear and fluent way
