Human Resources (HR) plays a critical role in meeting the department's strategic priorities by ensuring it has the workforce required to deliver on its objectives now and into the future. Our focus is on attracting, recruiting, engaging, and developing skilled and diverse talent to meet both operational and strategic needs. HR also supports the organisation in fostering a healthy, safe and respectful workplace culture.

The HR team delivers its services through a collaborative structure, including business aligned Business Partner teams and specialised teams focused on Workplace Relations, Safety and Ethical Standards, Executive and Talent, Policy and Programs, Workforce Strategy, Workforce Insights and HR Systems. These teams are further supported by the hrAssist team, which provides centralised support to the HR team and is the first point of contact for many HR-related queries.

The Principal Advisor, Office of the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) provides confidential executive and administrative support to the CHRO. As a key member of the team, you will use your knowledge of governance, risk, and delegations to ensure efficient and effective service delivery across the HR division.

As the Principal Advisor, you will:
• Provide high level support and coordination of information and advice to the CHRO to ensure efficient and effective service delivery coordination across the HR division.
• Manage the preparation, review, and finalisation of executive documents on behalf of the CHRO, including correspondence, proposals, cabinet in confidence submissions and Director-General / Ministerial Briefing Notes and executive correspondence on significant issues.
• Monitor emerging issues and provide advice to the CHRO and senior management team on appropriate courses of action.
• Liaise with responsible officers to obtain advice and initiate action to resolve emerging issues in a timely manner.
• Undertake and monitor significant projects and initiatives of a complex, sensitive, and contentious nature as directed by the CHRO, using appropriate project management methodology.
• Manage the Office of the CHRO, including budget preparation and monitoring, ensuring compliance with information management and recordkeeping requirements, human resources management matters and undertaking the role of Right to Information contact officer within Human Resources.
• Proactively manage and maintain administrative systems and processes relating to travel, procurement, assets and office equipment.

To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
• Sound knowledge of governance, risk, and delegations preferably in a public sector environment
• Proven experience and ability to understand customers and stakeholders and manage conflicting demands and uncertainty, while identifying and implementing improved ways of working to ensure the day-to-day operations of the business unit are being met.
• High level communication, advisory, problem solving and relationship management abilities.

Join our team - deliver excellence in customer service, make a difference and shape the future of Queensland. We celebrate diversity and invite applications from all backgrounds.
