The Subiaco Convent is home to the religious Sisters of St John of God and is located in Subiaco. It is privately funded residence owned by the sisters, not a registered aged care facility, however many of the Sisters are ageing and require services similar to those in an aged care facility.

The Sisters of St John of God (SSJG) is an international community of religious women in the Catholic Church. The Sisters have offered a wide range of health care, education and other services to the people of Australia. SSJG Ministries Inc. is a Catholic charitable organisation operated by the Sisters of St John of God. It carries on the major charitable activities of the congregation.

About the role

SSJG Ministries Inc. is seeking an experienced (minimum 2 years) compassionate Carer with a passion for the elderly who would like to join our team in Subiaco.

As a Carer, you will be joining a committed care team to provide high-quality care and support to the Sisters in their home (The Convent). You will help the Sisters to maintain their independence and quality of life.

What you'll be doing

Assisting with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping

Providing companionship and emotional support

Monitoring health and well-being, and reporting any changes or concerns to the Registered Nurse

Maintaining accurate records and documentation of care

Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and safety protocols

What we're looking for

A qualification in Aged Care (minimum Cert III)

Minimum of 2 years' experience in providing personal care and support to elderly

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with the Sisters

A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine desire to improve their lives

A strong understanding of quality care and best practice

A right to work in Australia

Current national police clearance
