YARA provides coordinated and integrated case planning for children unborn to 18 years with complex needs, and their families through its Complex Needs Assessment Panels (CNAP). The CNAPs comprise of senior members from a range of government and non-government agencies working collaboratively to support vulnerable children and young people on the Gold Coast and in Beenleigh.

Your Role as a Family Support Worker
Our mission is to support children, and their families navigate complex needs and issues with a person-centre and ethical approach. Asa Family Support Worker, you will:
Supervise, support and assist the target group to achieve their case management goals.
Provide intensive in-home support, mentoring and role-modelling to families where there may be parenting difficulties and that are case managed by the Panels.
Cooperate, liaise and negotiate with key stakeholders in conjunction with, and on behalf of, the client.
Where appropriate, transport clients to and from appropriate activities and appointments within, and outside of, business hours.
In conjunction with the Panel Coordinators, facilitate and support group-based or experiential programs.
Maintain appropriate, accurate and professional case management notes that can be submitted as admissible documents.
Implement assessment procedures and protocols in line with Program requirements.
This is a part time position consisting of 26.25 hours per week with negotiable working days.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum Bachelor level qualifications in Social Work, Human Services or related field.
Experience working with children, young people and families who have multiple and complex needs.
Understanding of issues faced by families in relation to parenting and the use of best practice models for engaging families.
Experience with case management principles within a strengths-based, holistic framework and client-centred framework.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, in an environment requiring flexibility and as part of a small team
High level of verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including report writing, negotiation, advocacy and the ability to effectively engage with children, young people and families and other service providers.
Essential Requirements
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status (or as required by legislation and WMQ policy)
Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ Limited policy.
Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel for work
