The City Performance directorate underpins the delivery of service excellence by providing expertise in financial services, procurement, governance, customer experience, property services and business technology.
About the role
An Application Specialist is responsible for analysing, designing, and deployment of configuration changes within the council’s core applications. This role works closely with business users to understand their needs, identify gaps in existing systems, and develop solutions that address those gaps. They also ensure that software applications are properly tested and deployed, and they provide ongoing support to users.
About you.
The successful candidate will be required to:
· Providing technical support and troubleshooting services for software applications, including identifying and resolving issues related to software functionality, configuration, and integration.
· Collaborating with end-users to understand their needs and develop solutions to address their requirements.
· Working closely with software vendors to identify and resolve bugs and other issues.
· Deploying configuration changes across development, test and production environments whilst adhering to councils change management procedure.
· Developing and conducting end-user training to ensure that users are able to use the software effectively.
· Conduct regular assessments of software applications to identify areas for improvement and optimise performance.
· Developing and maintaining documentation for software applications, including user manuals and technical documentation.
· Managing software version control and ensuring that software is kept up to date with the latest patches and updates.
· Monitoring system performance and addressing issues related to performance and scalability.
· Participating in software development projects as needed, providing guidance on software functionality and technical requirements.
· Providing recommendations for new software applications and technologies that could improve business operations and efficiency.
· Deliver high levels of service that meet or exceed agreed SLA’s.
We are looking for a someone who demonstrates:
· Relevant experience and technical knowledge using one or more of the below platforms:
o Infor Pathway
o TechnologyOne
o Open Text Content Manager
o Frontier iChris
· Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot issues, identify areas for improvement, and develop software solutions that meet business needs.
· Attention to detail to ensure that software applications are developed, tested, and deployed without errors.
· Proven skills and experience in the delivery of a quality, customer-oriented support and service function in a large organisation.
· Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
· Ability to work collaboratively with others, including end-users, software vendors, and other IT professionals.
· Able to manage their time effectively to balance competing priorities and meet project deadlines.
· Demonstrated ability to solve technical problems in a complex, dynamic environment.
