Join BCC's creative hive, as a key member of our Design and Brand team Brimbank City Council is seeking a versatile mid-level graphic designer, with a keen eye for detail and for good design. You'll be working with the Design and Brand team to develop and uphold our brand standards, and visually elevate a diverse range of multimedia communication tools for our community and employees.
You will also be responsible for a range of design-administration functions that are critical to the delivery our services.
This role is 4 days per week, with 3 days in office to work hands on alongside the Design and Brand team. You will work across a large variety of projects that allows you to flex your creative thinking and effectively inform our diverse community.
About the role:
- Design and layout quality products to communicate messaging to both internal and external audiences.
- Provide assistance to develop 'campaign' graphics and assets for digital and print.
- Support and educate staff on the use of Council's brand and accessibility standards.
- Play a key role with the maintenance and development of Design and Brand tools, such as templates and Digital Asset Library (DAL) imagery.
- Requires a high standard of file management and checking/proofing files.
- Actively support Design and Brand administrative functions.
About you:
You are a well-rounded and versatile creative, with strong design skills and demonstrated experience in brand management across a range of print and digital platforms.
You understand the role of design in the delivery of clear and accessible information to a variety of audiences. You are proactive and like to contribute solutions to enhance visual communication. You like to be part of a team, but can be relied upon to work autonomously to meet deadlines.
- Minimum 4 years of graphic design / industry experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Graphic Design
- A creative eye and strong attention to detail
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
- Experience with Microsoft Suite (especially Word and Powerpoint)
- Experience with Canva and Mailchimp
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- A portfolio that shows off your versatility and design thinking, demonstrating digital marketing materials and brand consistency across multiple projects
- Willingness to support the Design and Brand team with other tasks as required

Please note:
This position has a permanent, and fixed-term component. The successful candidate will be offered an employment contract for an 0.8FTE, part-time role, comprising of 0.4FTE (2 days per week) on permanent, ongoing basis, with the remaining 0.4FTE on a fixed term 2 year contract. There is a possibility that the fixed term component may be extended.
