The Position

The Technical Coordinator will lead technical procedures, projects and research to propagate and phenotype crop plants in controlled environments. Plant phenotyping methods include 3D reconstruction of plant canopies and multispectral/hyperspectral imaging under high-precision, controlled conditions.

The role provides high-level technical advice to clients on experimental design, implementation and operation of controlled environment cabinets, growth capsules and APPN equipment. You will coordinate research studies, including scoping and costing projects, while ensuring smooth access to controlled environments and equipment.

This involves providing expert technical support for complex phenotyping facilities, diagnostic problem-solving, and analysing experimental outputs for research publication preparation. The position includes administration duties, inventory management, and training coordination.

The Person

We are seeking a qualified specialist with a degree and relevant experience in plant phenomics, or an equivalent combination of experience and education/training.

We seek a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to develop productive, professional relationships with stakeholders quickly. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience providing expert technical support for complex controlled environment and phenotyping facilities.

Sound knowledge of research methodologies is essential, along with experience in designing and implementing studies, as well as collecting and analysing research data. The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, while working independently and harmoniously in a team environment is crucial.

Strong information technology, project management and organisational skills are key, with demonstrated ability to keep accurate records, prioritise tasks, and exercise sound judgement to meet tight timelines. We seek someone who enjoys tackling challenging technical problems and encourages colleagues to collaborate on effective solutions.
