This position is based at the Australian Automotive Research Centre (AARC), Wensleydale, Victoria.
AARC is a 1000 hectare site comprising a wide range of road conditions and test tracks engaged in testing, developing and evaluating cars, trucks and defence industry vehicles.
It is an exciting environment with an everchanging variety of vehicles and test environments.
The position of Facilities Maintenance Officer is part of a small team dedicated to the maintenance of roads, test facilities, buildings and fencing. There is a requirement to operate a range of plant and equipment.
The role requires excellent communication skills with tenants customers and supervision of contractors from time to time including presentation of inductions for site visitors. The job involves manual labour and is a hands-on position and requires the ability to carry out all activities in accordance with AARC regulations and safety instructions and having an understanding of OH&S requirements is essential.
This position plays a key role in the operation and presentation of Australian automotive research centre to tenants of and visitors to the proving ground. The role requires an ability to communicate positively the services available and an enthusiasm and commitment that offers customers the assurance of high quality and cost effective facilities
Principal duties and responsibilities:
· operation of plant and equipment
· ongoing maintenance of roads and tracks to ensure that these remaining are safe and serviceable condition
· ongoing maintenance of buildings and fences
· provide site inductions for visitors when required
· contribute to the upkeep of gardens maintenance of stocks and supplies
· purchase and collect goods from Geelong Torquay or Anglesea as required
· carry out administrative duties as required
· assist with security monitoring
· ensure all staff and external visitors work in a safe manner whilst on the premises
· light cleaning and maintenance of the administration conference and training buildings
Qualifications and experience
· be competent in basic computer skills
· basic building skills and grounds maintenance
· must have a current drivers licence and willingness to obtain current first aid certificate level 2
The following are desirable and if not held, the incumbent must have a willingness to become proficient in the use of:
· Chainsaws and
· Road graders
· front in loaders
· tractors and attachments
. forklifts
Communications
· active in providing assistance and supported activities of tenants
· the role requires the ability to positively and effectively communicate the services available
· to display enthusiastic commitment that offers our customers the assurance of high quality and cost effective facilities
