Why this Role?
The North Coast Region Partnerships and Programs team is seeking a motivated Senior Education Officer (EOSD) to advance equity and excellence across the North Coast region.
This position will focus on strengthening curriculum alignment, teaching capability, and continuity of learning across State Delivered Kindergartens and the early years of schooling (Prep- Year 2). The role aims to ensure that every child experiences high quality teaching strong foundations for literacy and numeracy, and effective transition into school.
The Senior Education Officer (EOSD) will work collaboratively with School Supervisors, school leaders, teaching staff, and regional teams to build capability of implementing the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guide (QKLG) and the Australian Curriculum. The role will support schools to align to curriculum, assessment and pedagogy to ensure a cohesive approach that strengthens teaching quality and learning outcomes across the Kindergarten to Year 2 continuum.
This position will work with the EFI team and cross regional teams to build further understanding of the early year's curriculum alignment, ensuring a consistent and collaborative approach to supporting schools and improving outcomes for children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing targeted professional support to NCR State Delivered Kindergarten schools to strengthen teaching and learning across Kindergarten to Year 2
- Building school leader and educator capability in curriculum alignment and early years pedagogy
- Supporting schools to implement high quality teaching, assessment, and reporting practices that enhance regional consistency and capability
- Collaborating with EFI and cross-regional teams to share practice, data insights, and strategies that enhance regional consistency and capability.
- Contributing to regional early childhood priorities, including strengthening connections across the birth-to-kindergarten space to support continuity of learning and improved outcomes for children and families.
- Contributing to regional and state priorities through collaboration, data analysis, and reporting to inform improvement planning.
- Supporting State Delivered Kindergartens to meet their obligations under the National Law and National Quality Framework (NQF), including guidance on quality standards, continuous improvement, and compliance.
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- Deep expertise in early years education and curriculum alignment from Kindergarten to Year 2.
- A strong understanding of the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline, the Australian Curriculum, and effective early years teaching practices.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with school leaders, EFI, and cross-regional teams to improve the quality and consistency of teaching and learning.
- Sound knowledge of the National Quality Framework and National Law, and the capacity to support schools in achieving and maintaining compliance and continuous improvement.
- A four-year early childhood teaching qualification is required to provide professional support to State Delivered Kindergartens and ensure alignment with 0.5 ECT (Early Childhood Teacher) contact time.
- This position is offered for a period of six months, with the possibility of extension.
- The role requires travel across the North Coast Region to support schools, including some overnight travel as required.
