About the role

We're looking for a skilled, motivated tradesperson who takes pride in quality workmanship and is ready to grow into a leadership role.

You'll manage and coordinate the production schedule to keep manufacturing efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with customer demand — ensuring materials, labour, and equipment meet production goals.

You'll also mentor apprentices, share knowledge, and uphold high workshop standards. As part of our succession planning, this position offers a clear pathway to Team Leader, where you'll guide others, foster collaboration, and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Fabricate and weld components to drawings (MIG essential, TIG advantageous)

Assemble and fit out frames, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems

Operate fabrication tools and machinery safely and efficiently

Interpret drawings and specifications accurately

Inspect and test finished work to quality standards

Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve issues

Lead by example — mentor apprentices and promote safety and efficiency

Coordinate workflow to meet production targets

Identify and implement process improvements

Maintain a clean, compliant, and safe workspace (WHS)

Occasionally assist with strip-downs and equipment maintenance

Leadership & Development Pathway

As part of our long-term workshop leadership plan, you'll progressively develop people-management skills, including:

Providing guidance and direction to fabrication team

Fostering a positive, respectful, and collaborative culture

Identifying training needs and developing team capability

Coaching and mentoring to support technical and professional growth

Skills & Experience

Trade-qualified Fabricator, Welder, or Boilermaker (3–5 years' experience)

Strong fabrication, welding, and technical drawing interpretation skills

Proficient in fabrication equipment, tools, and processes

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills

Experience with hydraulic/pneumatic systems (advantageous)

Demonstrated ability or interest in developing leadership capability

Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
