About Us
Budja Budja Aboriginal Cooperative is a proud Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO), founded by CEO and Elder Tim Chatfield. From our clinics in Halls Gap and Ararat, we provide culturally safe, holistic and person-centred care to local Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities across the Grampians region. Our services include primary health care, general practice, community health and Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB), which supports mental health, AOD services, families and cultural connection. As the only Aboriginal-led health service in the region, Budja Budja is committed to strengthening culture, health and wellbeing through care that honours community and connection.
The Role
We are seeking a Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Worker to assist in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities to strengthen their wellbeing. Working under the guidance of senior SEWB staff, this role focuses on helping clients attend appointments, access services, participate in programs and connect with culturally safe supports in the community. The SEWB Worker plays a vital role in building trust with clients, supporting participation in programs, and contributing to a safe and culturally sensitive environment for individuals and families.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with the delivery of SEWB programs, workshops, cultural activities and community events
Supporting clients and families to navigate services, attend appointments and access culturally safe care
Building respectful relationships with clients, families and community members
Providing day-to-day support and advocacy under the guidance of senior SEWB staff
Liaising with community organisations, schools and stakeholder to strengthen wellbeing initiatives
Collecting feedback from participants and contributing to service reporting
Maintaining confidentiality, escalating risks and following organisational policies
Promoting community participation in programs and contributing to health and wellbeing advocacy
About You
You are caring, community-minded and committed to improving the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. You bring experience in community services or health, with the ability to build strong connections and work as part of a collaborative team. You are organised, flexible and confident working with clients and community to support positive wellbeing outcomes.
Essential Criteria:
Qualification or experience in Community Services, Aboriginal Health, Social Work or a related field
Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Ability to communicate and build connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Capacity to develop effective working relationships, collaborations and partnerships with a range of services within the broader community service system, particularly ACCOs
Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-professional team
Understanding of the SEWB model and the social determinants of health
Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance
Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel to both Halls Gap and Ararat locations and within the community
