At Academy Movement, a not for profit organisation, we believe sport is one of the most powerful tools for student engagement, connection, and achievement and can lead to great educational outcomes. Born from a highly successful school-based academy program, we’re expanding our impact across Melbourne, partnering with schools to build tailored sports academies that drive real outcomes in and out of the classroom. Backed by leading sporting bodies including Cricket Victoria, Rugby Australia, and Basketball Victoria, our proven model supports students to thrive academically while developing their sporting skills on the field, and off it. The Opportunity

We are seeking passionate and qualified physical education teachers, with an interest in strength and conditioning to work for one of our partner schools, delivering our unique sports academy program in the west of Melbourne. This will combine your love of classroom teaching with your passion for sport, using an established and impactful academy framework, that has proven results to back it up. You’ll work teaching and delivering, knowing you have the Academy Movement team supporting you to improve student outcomes, increasing engagement, and building pride and culture through sport.

Your Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality teaching in your core physical education subject area

Provide strength and conditioning programs and guidance to academy students

Support and develop a sport-specific academy program in your school that is aligned with school and curriculum goals, using provided curriculum materials

Build strong, supportive relationships with students, staff, families and external sporting partners

Actively contribute to a positive school culture through sport and mentorship to support student development both on and off the field

Collaborate with school leadership and Academy Movement to track and enhance student outcomes

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Current VIT registration, VIT registered teacher or eligibility for VIT registration (e.g. interstate or internationally recognised such as NZ teaching registration)

Qualified and experience teaching Physical Education, and ideally an S&C qualification

A relevant coaching qualification (Level 1 minimum) or a proven playing background in one or more of the following sports Rugby Union; Cricket; Basketball; or AFL would be highly considered

Demonstrated success in delivering educational outcomes, working with students from diverse backgrounds

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build authentic relationships with students, staff, families and external sports partners

A proven commitment to delivering classroom outcomes, and a passion for using your specialist sporting knowledge to drive engagement, attendance, and academic success
