Role Summary
In this role as Claims Solutions and Capability Manager you'll be responsible for Claims governance and technical strategy ensuring sustainable claims practices through audit and risk management, training, development, and coaching. This includes meeting service delivery and operational targets, identifying and championing process simplification and continuous improvement.
Primary (Key) Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and mentor a team of Claims Technical professionals, driving best-practice capabilities across the claims function to meet business objectives and professional standards.
- Review, develop and implement robust controls and oversight frameworks across Claims, Rehabilitation, and Forensic Accountancy functions, including audit methodology, annual training plans, and related systems, processes and guidelines.
- Oversee the ongoing review and enhancement of the Claims and Rehabilitation Philosophy to maximise performance, quality, and consistency across both paper-based and tele-claims management practices.
- Manage complex dispute resolution and litigation matters, ensuring effective engagement with internal stakeholders, reinsurers, and third-party suppliers throughout the claims lifecycle.
- Drive accuracy and consistency across client and intermediary claims documentation, ensuring customer and adviser materials (e.g. Adviser Guides, PDSs) are current and aligned with Claims and Rehabilitation standards.
- Manage third-party expense budgets and contract controls in line with regulatory and risk requirements, ensuring sound financial oversight and accountability.
- Provide expert technical advice on claims matters to internal business areas including Underwriting, Product and Pricing, Risk, and Compliance.
- Proactively manage risk by adhering to policy and compliance requirements, performing required controls, following procedures, and escalating any issues or breaches as identified.
- Represent the organisation through participation in industry working groups and professional forums (e.g. CALI, ALUCA), contributing to technical thought leadership in Claims.
Qualifications Required
- Minimum 7 years Technical Leadership and Performance management experience within the Life Insurance or other related Industry (workers compensation, reinsurance)
- Technical Life Insurance claims/rehabilitation experience, demonstrated through peer and industry recognition of capabilities (desirable)
- Tertiary qualifications (Allied Health, Business, Accounting, Law) (Preferred) - ANZIIF Cert 4 or equivalent in Life Insurance experience/training
