ABOUT THE POSITION - Educator Core Duties

Our approach is educationally focused, sensorially based, that fosters independence, creativity, and a love for learning. To achieve these goals designed for optimal child development, the following core duties are required:

Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote physical, emotional, social and cognitive development.

Maintain a balance between play-based & intentional teaching curriculum and philosophy to guide children through their individual learning journeys.

Foster strong relationships with children, parents, and staff, creating a supportive and inclusive community.

Oversee daily routines, including mealtimes, nap times, and outdoor play.

Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and Centre policies.

Conduct regular observations and assessments to track children’s progress and development.

Collaborate with other educators and staff to maintain a cohesive and effective team.

ABOUT YOU - Position Requirements

This role is dedicated to delivering a high-quality early learning service within a child-focused education and care environment. It calls for a passionate commitment to the development of young minds, alongside practical experience in curriculum creation, deployment, and compliance execution. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong personal drive for continuous improvement—of themselves, their colleagues, and the children in their care.

While the role centres on hands-on educational delivery, it also offers scope for growth into broader leadership responsibilities. As part of a collaborative team, the position supports the development and refinement of curriculum and procedural practices, contributing to a culture of excellence and shared accountability. Over time, the role may evolve to include mentoring and guiding peers in curriculum implementation and compliance, aligning with the service’s strategic goals and quality standards.

Essential

Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent).

Qualifications in the Montessori framework.

Minimum 3+years of previous experience in a Montessori work environment.

Knowledge in Health and Safety compliance and protocols to effectively promote and maintain a culture of childcare safety and wellbeing

Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with staff, parents, and educators and foster a collaborative relationship with educators as well as parents, addressing their concerns and maintaining regular communication channels.

A passion for working with children and a commitment to providing high-quality childcare, a positive, proactive approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution, high levels of creativity, energy, and patience.

ACECQA approved training and qualifications in: first aid in an education and care setting, cardiopulmonary resuscitation training, child protection training, and safe sleep training.

Desirable

Previous experience in people management with the ability to effectively lead and manage a diverse team of educators and foster a positive work environment.

Previous experience in a leadership role within an early childhood setting and a strong understanding of the EYLF, NQS, and relevant child protection legislation.

Prerequisites

A current Working with Children check (or willingness to obtain one).

A National Police Clearance – no more than 6 months old (or willingness to obtain one).
