Director
The Advanced Breast Cancer Group
Posted 6 days ago
The Advanced Breast Cancer Group is a unique service that provides quality psychosocial support to women living with metastatic breast cancer in Queensland, through a weekly professionally led group, as well as support for partners and families through a twice-yearly workshop program.
Established in 1999, ABCG has been funded by Queensland Health since 2002 and is a leading advocate and provider of evidence based psychosocial support for women and families affected by metastatic breast cancer in Australia. It has produced a range of quality hard copy and online resources, including documentary films, Q&As with Medical Oncologists, a book and podcast, which have been widely distributed across Australia and are freely available from our website. www.abcg.org.au
A registered charity since 2015, ABCG is now looking to expand its reach throughout Queensland, to establish more professionally led groups in collaboration with health professionals and cancer services in regional Queensland. To achieve this, we need a Director with knowledge and experience in developing partnerships with government and community organisations, preferably in the oncology health space; a capacity to develop relationships with potential sponsors; expand the experience and skillset of the ABCG Board; and raise much needed additional funding through grants and fundraising, in addition to overseeing the operational delivery of the service and reporting to Queensland Health.
This is a part time position (two days per week), paid on a fee for service basis at the rate of $100 per hour. The position is available for immediate appointment until expiration of our current Service Agreement with Queensland Health on 30 June 2029. However, we are seeking a Director who would be able to lead ABCG well beyond that deadline. You would be working with two experienced psychologists to deliver clinical services and an experienced support team to assist with communications, website/IT and administration.
ABCG fills a significant gap in psychosocial support for these women – women who want to know how other women cope with the diagnosis and support to live with the uncertainty of an incurable disease. With women living longer due to improved treatments the need to expand the ABCG to support more women and families is even more critical than when we established the service.
If you would like to work in this rewarding and innovative service, or if you would like to learn more, please get in touch. Please include two referees in your application.
