About Centrecare

The Role
Working within Centrecare’s Therapeutic Framework, we are seeking an experienced Counsellor, to provide high-quality intake, screening, assessment, counselling, and support to victims of domestic and family violence. Duties will include; conducting risk assessments, safety planning, and facilitating individual counselling sessions. Availability must be to work one evening per week until 8 pm at the Midland branch.
A few specifics:

  • Provide counselling and support to individuals affected by domestic and family violence.
  • Utilise Centrecare’s Therapeutic Framework to maintain consistency in program design and service delivery.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety planning, and risk management in line with best practice standards.
  • Actively support clients to engage and participate in counselling sessions and/or external programs.
  • Manage counselling caseload, conduct client assessments, and develop case plans based on clients' needs.
  • Maintain documentation, including case notes, screenings, assessments, and support plan.

Selection Criteria:

  • Recognised tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, Counselling, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in counselling individuals, couples, and families.
  • Experience working with individuals who have experienced family and domestic violence.
  • Experience in case management and coordination of client services.
  • Knowledge and experience in intake, assessment, and case management.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge.
  • National Police Certificate.
  • Availability to work one evening per week until 8pm.

Desirable Skills:

  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Willingness to work one evening a week until 8 pm if required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
