About the role

Work alongside Aboriginal women, families, midwives, and healthcare teams to provide culturally safe, respectful and holistic maternity care that supports healthy pregnancies, births and babies.

Key duties of the role

  • Deliver antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal care within scope of practice
  • Provide cultural support, advocacy and education to women and families
  • Collaborate with midwives, doctors and allied health in multidisciplinary care
  • Build strong links with Aboriginal communities and health services
  • Contribute to culturally safe service development and quality improvement

Skills and Experience

  • Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice
  • Eligible for registration with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board
  • Demonstrated experience providing antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal care to Aboriginal women and families
  • Strong connections with Aboriginal communities and excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams
