Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Tjungu (together) team provides support, advocacy and care coordination to ngaltutjara tjuta – people with disabilities, elderly people, and their carers & families. Tjungu was chosen as the title for the program to reflect the fact that aged, disability and mental health issues often overlap ad require workers and families to meet these challenges together. Tjungu philosophy and principles support the rights of older Anangu people and people with disabilities to live in their community so that family and relationships can be maintained and spiritual and physical connections with country are continued.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Project Officer is a team member of the Tjungu Team. The Tjungu Team provides support suitable to the needs of Anangu with disability, frail aged and carers and family members who reside in the 26 Aboriginal communities of the cross-border region of South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
The Project Officer supports the establishment of NPYWC ATSI Aged Care Assessment Service and undertakes and completes Aged Care Assessments as required.
Underpinning the role are two key work practices: cultural safety and trauma informed practice.
ABOUT YOU
You will have Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated relevant experience in a health, community services or related field. . You will also have the ability to work in a cross-cultural environment, including working in partnership with other NPYWC staff and taking direction.
In addition to this we offer a generous remuneration package. You will receive an above award salary, salary packaging benefits, 32 days (pro-rata) of annual leave and 15 days (pro-rata) of personal leave. We also provide use of a company vehicle when travelling remotely along with travel allowance.
