About the Role:

Brisbane Boys’ College is seeking an enthusiastic, suitably experienced educator to take on a full-time contract role teaching Design and Technology within the Technology Department, replacing a teacher on leave. Your appointment commences 20 January and concludes 2 April (Terms 1) 2026.

Working with students from Years 7 to 12 across the Secondary School Design program, you will be empowered to create and deliver engaging, flexible and intellectual learning experiences that challenge and inspire the boys in our programs. You will also be actively engaged in the College’s Co-curricular and Pastoral Care programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach Design and Technology in the Middle School.

Teach Applied pathway subjects (Furnishing Skills, Engineering Skills and Industrial Technology Skills)

Have a working knowledge of the latest AutoCAD package, including Revit, Inventor & Fusion.

Design and implement intellectually challenging learning experiences that value diversity and utilise Information Technology as a tool for learning.

Assess and report constructively on student learning.

Support personal development and participation in society.

Create and maintain safe and supportive learning environments particularly in relation to behaviour management aimed at building positive and authentic relationships with students.

Foster positive and productive relationships with students, families, staff and the community.

Be actively involved in the College’s Co-curricular program.

Be actively involved in the College’s Pastoral Care program.

Commit to reflective practice and ongoing professional renewal.

Be positive in support of the College’s traditions and Christian ethos.

Perform conscientiously and competently the duties, teaching and non-teaching, as assigned by the Headmaster or delegate.

Maintain such records as may be required by the College.

Selection Criteria:

Provide examples of how you have established, maintained and enhanced excellence in boy focused teaching and learning activities.

Provide examples of how you have established, maintained and enhanced excellence in relationships in the classroom and the wider education community.

Just as we are not afraid to ask more of our boys, provide examples of how you have gone above and beyond your normal classroom practices to achieve excellent outcomes.

Explain how your values are demonstrated in your classroom practices and how this has improved your involvement in schools.

Explain how you have empowered or how you would empower people (staff and students) in a school setting.

Mandatory requirements

Adhere to the PMSA Code of Conduct.

Comply with College policies, procedures and training requirements, including those related to occupational health and safety, risk management, child protection, and confidentiality.

Positively support the College’s traditions and Christian ethos.

All teaching staff must maintain current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
