Community Correctional Services (CCS) contributes to the safety of the community by applying practices that reduce reoffending and connect individuals to programs, services and community. CCS provides management of individuals on court orders, people who have committed serious sex offences on post sentence supervision and prisoners on parole.
About the role:
This role can be based in Ballarat or Horsham. The Grampians region is large, in addition to Ballarat and Horsham the Court Assessment and Prosecutions team covers a number of satellite courts, meaning travel to historic courthouses in remote locations via government car will be required, with accommodation provided when needed. This role is not isolated to an office all day. The scenery, stakeholders you engage with and the Magistrates you'll appear before will change. A willingness to travel within the Grampians region is essential.
Court Assessment & Prosecutions Officers are responsible for supporting the operation of the Court Assessment and Prosecutions Service and applying relevant work practices. This includes conducting court assessments to determine an individual's suitability for a court order,
facilitating the variation or cancellation of an order, or prosecuting individuals who fail to comply with their orders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide timely, high quality, evidence-based advice to stakeholders
- Undertake an effective assessment of an individual's risk to community safety
- Effectively manage individuals exhibiting challenging behaviours
- Produce detailed reports and other standard documents in line with procedural guidelines
About you:
- Experience or knowledge of court processes and prosecutions
- Demonstrated ability to provide human services in needs assessments and development of interventions
- Pays attention to words, expression and body language; Recognises behaviours that promote a culture of inclusion
- Resolves issues through deep understanding or interpretation of existing guidelines
