🔍 Job Description:
XReality Group and Red Cartel is seeking a highly skilled Senior Unity Engineer to join our core development group in Sydney on a negotiable 12 month contract with high potential for full time after 12 months for the right candidate. This role is part of our software team, responsible for building the logic and behaviours that VR broader environments.
You will be involved in designing and implementing systems that influence presence, interaction, and realism. The work focuses on areas just outside the user’s direct control but essential to their overall experience. It is a technically demanding and collaborative role, requiring close coordination with internal stakeholders to ensure features are robust, reliable, and aligned with creative direction.
🛠 Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain advanced Unity systems, focusing on background character behaviours and supporting frameworks
Build and refine XR applications where systemic character interaction plays a meaningful role
Collaborate with stakeholders across disciplines to ensure alignment with project goals
Optimise performance and stability for runtime systems at scale
Investigate and resolve technical challenges within production constraints
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of development processes and tools
✅ Requirements:
Minimum 8 years of professional engineering experience
At least 5 years working with Unity in a production environment
A record of contributing to multiple released or activated projects
Strong proficiency in C# within Unity
Experience developing XR applications
Ability to commute to the Brookvale office
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
🌟 Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with character logic, behaviour trees, or simulation systems
Familiarity with networking frameworks such as Mirror, Photon, UNet, or Netcode for GameObjects
Proficiency with Git and collaborative version control workflows
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and Unity automation practices
